We were here just to experience heimablidni, and that is something we really recommend you to do!! It was very interesting to eat with a local and Durita took such good care of us, telling us about where the food came from and answered all of our questions. The food was also delicious!
If I’m ever back in faroe (which I hope to be) I will be staying with Durita in her home again. It’s an extremely cozy and well kitted out house and you have complete access to a shared kitchenette and oven space upstairs; as well as a pristine bathroom with a massive shower. I loved the relaxed vibe of the accommodation as it’s a given that everyone sorts themselves out and everything is quietly supplied. We even woke up one morning to a baked cake from our host. On my first morning I woke to an email inviting em to a dinner Durita was hosting that night where I would get the chance to meet other tourists and compare experiences and get tips. We were told lots of stories about Faroese life and upbringing and had a beautiful dinner of things not available in restaurants (such as whale beef steak) over discussions about What traditions in the culture mean. It was a beautiful experience. Overall I would highly highly recommend choosing FaroeGuide as your accommodation if you want something with easy access to the capital Tórshavn and to any main routes to other islands. And because I found FaroeGuide of booking.com I wasn’t aware that the hosts are open to planning excursions and such. Durita was very generous with her information despite this and when I come back I will be looking to spend some more time under her guidance.
I had a lovely stay at Durita & Fróði's place, they are such welcoming hosts, the communication was super quick and easy as was the check-in. The house itself is perfectly located, only a few minutes by car/bus to Torshavn, easy access to the rest of the islands with a bus stop just down the road, free parking spots if you come by car (which I would recommend - it makes exploring the islands a little easier) and a beautiful stretch of coastline to take a short walk just outside the house. You can start your day with a nice breakfast in the guest kitchen at the upper floor. Each morning there was something new to choose from - even homemade jam or brownies. Next to the well-equipped kitchen I also had a small fridge in my room, which was quite convenient at times. The room itself was very comfortable, it even had a desk that not only allowed me to get some work done but also offered a very nice view over the sea and the city of Torshavn from up above. I can definitely recommend staying here 🙂
I absolutely recommend this place! The Lady Durita is amazing person, who helped us a lot! We are very thankful that we stayed in this house! There is nothing which doesn't like us! Cozy room, wonderful breakfast. The house has everything you need for your stay! The little doggy Oreo is so cute and friendly! We was reach by hurricane and our flight was cancelled, Durita help us to stay one night more and was so caring about us! Thank you!
I visited for an evening, participating in a communal dinner. I showed up on my own, but had an absolute blast with the strangers that I met around the table. That was none the least due to the atmosphere created by the ever so friendly and likeable hosts. The dining room and the view are great, the food traditional and tasty and all I could eat, all the dishes were introduced in an educational and interesting way, we heard loads about Faroese culture. I strongly recommend trying one of these communal dinners, whether you show up in a group or as a couple (both of which some did that evening) or just on your own like a couple of us.
